Studies in the Flower Garden

David Simpson has been photographing flowers for many years as a personal and private interest. All of the FlowerArt in this collection were photographed in David and his wife, Jean’s, flower garden on the property of their Maryland residence. Every flower and plant was considered, planted and tended with the ultimate goal of beautifying the country landscape. Most were photographed at sunrise to take advantage of the beautiful morning light. Some were taken at sunset for the same reason. And a few were done in the Simpson home studio when the weather did not permit but an idea urged David on. “Studies in the Flower Garden” include six categories that portray various moods and concepts that presented themselves to the artist as the inner nature of flower art.

FlowerArt: Experience this new art form in your home, art studio, museum, exhibit, office or art gallery. Tuxedo Collection. Black and white FlowerArt as a study in light and shadow for the most dramatic presentation of flower shapes and forms. Tuxedo compositions communicate a classic interpretation much like the elegant magazines art directed by Alexi Brodovich in the 30s, 40s and 50s. Or perhaps a thoughtful, formal portrait by Edward Stieglitz in his day. See More.
Rouge Collection. Rouge is emotion. Rouge is seductive. Mere words fail in trying to explain the sensual beauty of these pictures. These up close and very personal FlowerArt photographs, will remind you of the movie, Moulin Rouge, directed by Baz Luhrman – a stylish musical love story of a poet, a courtesan and a duke. This is art better RED than said. See More.
